How do you decide when to clear something out of your life?

Whether it’s a habit, relationship, old papers or interpersonal dynamic, we all reach a place where we’re called to clear out things that no longer serve us.

How do you muster the effort it takes to make such changse?

If you are looking for spiritual support for this necessity, I highly recommend calling upon the powerful energy of Hindu goddess Kali.

Questions for December’s Waning Moon

"Modern Day Kuan Yin," copyright Roslyn McGrath

“Modern Day Kuan Yin,” copyright Roslyn McGrath

Kuan Yin is one of the first spiritual teachers I became acquainted with on my conscious path and one that I feel especially close with. She’s known for helping to bring about everyday sorts of miracles, rather than the out-of-the-blue kind, and for her great compassion, giving her the description “She who hears the cries of the world.”

It seems to me one of the things people want most is to be heard, to be truly listened to and acknowledged. When you listen with your full attention, your full presence, it’s an irreplaceable gift.

Perhaps you can recollect a time where someone really deeply listened to you, and what it meant to you.

The art of listening can be cultivated, a very worthwhile effort, as we must have the capacity to listen in order to truly grow beyond our own immediate perceptions and possible misconceptions.

To be able to listen with compassion is both a skill and a gift, something required in our efforts to experience Heaven on Earth.

So in relation to all this, the Questions for  December’s Waning Moon, adapted from Goddess Heart Rising: Paintings, Poems & Meditations for Activating Your Divine Potential, which you might want to consider through this holiday season are:

How supported do I feel in my life? How well do I support others?

Eve’s Story Reconsidered: Questions for the Week

Lady Eve, copyright 2013, Roslyn McGrath

Lady Eve, copyright 2013, Roslyn McGrath

What does it mean to embody full knowing?

What might Lady’s Eve’s example have to do with this?

We have the capacity to be lulled into a kind of cultural hypnosis, automatically accepting ideas and underlying assumptions without question.

We also have the capacity to wake up, to wonder, to reconsider our options, and the possibilities of the world.

There are more versions of Eve’s story available to us now.

What do you think her purpose was, is?

What can we learn from her story?

What opportunities might it open for us?

What illusions might it shatter?

Mo-Ray Angelica: Questions to Consider

Mo-Ray Angelica, from KG

Each section of Goddess Heart Rising contains self-reflection questions based on the themes shared by each of the Goddess energies portrayed.

A couple to contemplate from Mo-Ray Angelica’s section are:

  • What truths am I exploring in my life right now?
  • What truths am I being called to share with others?

Question of the Week

Lakshmi, copyright Roslyn McGrath

Lakshmi is the Goddess of Abundance, Prosperity, Fertility. I was amazed to discover as I painted this image of her, that she is exceptionally peaceful, centered, as energies in many forms come in and go out.

So I offer the following for your consideration from Lakshmi’s Self-Reflection section in Goddess Heart Rising:

How comfortable am I with giving? With receiving?

Question of the Week

Isis, copyright Roslyn McGrath

Isis, copyright Roslyn McGrath

Years ago, I heard a speaker at a conference I attended ask,”What is it that gets you to make a change? Is it the level of the feather, the fist, the car, the truck or the train hitting you? (referring to the level of discomfort experienced)

I think at some point, and sometimes more than one, each of us is led to a time of deep uncertainty, challenge to the point we must surrender our usual way of doing things,

and out of which we have the opportunity to emerge reconstituted, more clearly reflective of the wisdoms we’ve gained through our experience, and the values we hold dear.

Isis is the overseer of such powerful transitions.

So you may wish to consider:

Is something transforming in me now?

Am I willing to surrender to this change?

Question of the Week

"Waiting for Isis," copyright Roslyn McGrath

“Waiting for Isis,” copyright Roslyn McGrath

It must be time for Waiting for Isis – no matter how hard I tried for a different outcome, I opened to this section every time!

So what is it that’s preparing to open in you and in me? And how can we best support this process?

It’s not about forcing the timing, of that I feel sure. Perhaps it’s about paying better attention, appreciating the process in and of itself, noticing and appreciating all the subtleties of bud-into-blossom, and nurturing them, regardless of pulls to do what you’ve always done and to fulfill obligations that no longer suit you and your true goals.
